I give you permission to Quit

Quit playing the comparison game. Get your eyes off the world and refocus them to the God who created it.

Whether in sports or life, you will drive yourself crazy by playing the comparison game. Most would admit that no good ever comes from it, and yet we still are playing. The advice of the bible is clear, “Do not lay up for yourselves treasures on earth, where moth and rust destroy and where thieves break in and steal, but lay up for yourselves treasures in heaven, where neither moth nor rust destroys and where thieves do not break in and steal. For where your treasure is, there your heart will be also.” (Matthew 6:19-21) God isn’t concerned with who you are or what you possess in comparison to others. He is interested in your heart, and the desires that pour forth from it. So, quit comparing. I give you permission to quit.

Quit looking at social media and comparing your worst to others best. (Galatians 1:10)

Quit comparing the externals when God is concerned with the internals. (1 Samuel 16:7)

Quit fixing your eyes on others and never stop fixing them upon Christ. (Hebrews 12:2)

Quit being frustrated with what you are not and start thanking God for who you are. (Colossians 3:1-4)

Whether in sports or life, nothing good comes from playing the comparison game. The enemy invites you to participate knowing full will the game will crush your spirit and leave you disheartened. Stop playing the comparison game. Get your eyes off of the world and refocus them to the God who created it. Quit worrying about yourself and start playing for Him. (Matthew 28:19-20)
